Malaysia’s Independence Day falls on this Sunday which is the 31st of August, so our school had an early celebration on Friday before the actual day. Everyone in our school was required to wear our national costume which is Baju Kurung for females and Baju Melayu for the males.
In the morning, everyone entered the school dressed like a peacock. The scene was really beautiful with all the colourful dresses. The only thing is, we’re required to wear doll shoes which I don’t like wearing it. My Baju Kurung belongs to a girl in our class, Fatimah, who’s generous enough to borrow us her dresses. On the day before, she brought a few pieces of hers for us to choose from. All of them looks nice, Audrey chose an orange dress, Chou Tong took a pink dress, leaving two for me to choose, one is brown in colour and another one is black which I’d chosen. Reaching school late, I had not much choices left as they chose it without waiting for me, yeah, but anyway, I think I will still choose the black one as the others are not really my style. xD But thanks Fatimah, for your dresses!
The celebration started early in the morning. Firstly with speeches as usual, followed by a cutting cake ceremony by the teachers. It was also our headmistress’ birthday on the day of celebration, so yeah. After that, the Upper 6 Students did a fashion show, parading traditional costumes. On the other hand, the Lower 6 Students performed a short sketch on how our Father of Malaysia fought for our independence from the Japanese army.
And then out of nowhere, they announced 5 Maju as the most cooperative class which every single member wore their Baju Kurung! We were awarded with a hamper and while we were telling which representative to go up stage, the teacher said "everyone just go on stage" and there we go! Ran up stage and took photos with the headmistress and our class teacher. It was hectic but funny at the same time, and I think the headmistress was dumbfounded. xP
After the celebration ended, everyone went back to their respective classes, but definitely not us. We were still busy taking photos you know. =P
As all of my friends went back, I was left alone waiting for my dad. At the canteen, I was flipping through my Chemistry notes to find out whether I did correctly in my exam when the Form 6 guy, Arthur Khor, Joo Wei's brother, came by and asked to take a photo with me. "Huh? Why?" was my first respond. Shoudn't have asked the 'why' lol. He doesn't know how to reply me and said that he just wanna take a photo. "Eeeeerrrrrrmmmmmm... Okay... Hold on a second." I don't really know what to do at that time, he's already in front of me so it would be rude if I reject right? And then he asked me whether I want to take selfie or let his friend ( Song Cheing Sing ) take. I was thinking that, it's him who wanted to take photo, so you decide larh, why ask me. And after that, my dad came and I went back home.
My first time wearing Baju Kurung. ^_^

Cutting cake ceremony.
Teachers were having fun taking photos too! xD
The models.
Sketch on the process of our independence.
"Hey! Wait for me!" That moment when we hear a lot of these sentences. As a result, there's a bundle of same photo will a few additional friends in the next photo. Smiling and standing there for so long causing our mouth and legs ache. @@ And as the photographer, you have no choice but to keep moving backwards in order to fit everyone in the photo.
You will know what to do when the camera is in your hand. xD
Because I am the photographer. =P
Behind the scene that I got to capture. XD
Friends that I am closer with.
Be prepared, here comes our selfies!! =D
We were trying to take a group photo with our classmates, and suddenly the Form 6's ran and joined in, and everyone were dumbfounded. Sigh.
One last photo before moving back to our class.
Bumped into our form teacher on the way back, so why not a photo? xP
In the class, instead of studying, we were still taking photos! Once started, it takes forever to stop. Habit huh? Haha.
Our one and only photo with Puan Norhayati who taught us Moral for 5 years. Woah.
Incomplete family photo of 5 Maju.
Photos with classmates.
Behind the scenes.
With Fatimah. Thanks for lending us your Baju Kurungs! =D
Okay, my face looks seriously weird in the second photo. TT
Our signature poses. xD
Finally back to normal haha.
Okay now, enough of taking photos. Back to revision. We are having our Chemistry Paper 3 later on! Shit. While we were eating and revising, Anusha and Azlyn came up and told me to go downstairs for awhile. I was like 'Huh? What? Why?' then they said the Form 6 wanted to take photo with me and then I was seriously confused. Doesn't care, I need to revise.
Studying on one side, chit chatting on the other.
Some were still eating snacks from the hamper and some were busy selfie-ing.
Time to sit for our exam. It was quite uncomfortable wearing doll shoes and Baju Kurung, so I sat rather ungraciously. Taking off my shoes and crossing my legs on the chair. xD But the Malays did the same too so I am not the only one there. Hehe. After exam, we continued our photo session before going back home.
It was Puan Salma, our Chemistry teacher's idea.
At the dewan bakti, there were some students' works for our Independence Day. Never realized about that as they were at the study corner, and the students were already packing them up after school when we finally saw it.
