A Beach Trip

Posted by Mae Yeap at Sunday, June 15, 2014
It was a fun and exciting four days three nights trip to Kuala Rompin and Pulau Tioman. The highlight of this trip is the BEACH AND SEA for sure! 바다! It was really long ago since the last time we went to the beach together. Although it was really tiring going by car, but it's okay, since the blue sea will be right in front of our eyes in just a few hours time.

First Day ( 8/6 )
Our first stop was Kuala Rompin, Pahang. We had our lunch halfway the journey and we stopped by at one of the coffee houses in Rompin and had a break there one hour before reaching our destination. This shop is said to be famous with their coffee, so the adults went there purposely to have a try while we just sat at a table together and played our mobile games.

Of course, a selfie in the car! When boredom strikes~

One of the tables that we sat during lunch.

At Rompin, we rented a double-story townhouse, but only the upstairs though. xD But out of expected, the family that rented downstairs left on the day we went there and no one rented after that, so the kind-hearted owner opened up for us ( since we have a large-sized family ), and thus, we are free to use the whole house ( not the bedrooms of course, we didn't pay for it ). =P The house is by the seaside, a few footsteps ahead and we can play at the beach! But the thing is, no one remembered to take photos of those on the land, we were all too immersed in the thought of the beach. Albeit this is not the exact houses, it looked quite similar to this :

Once we reached there, we unpacked our belongings and together, everyone relaxed in the master bedroom by enjoying a movie with some refreshing pineapples as snack! Our cousin's mom ( 6th ) was so busy going around the room feeding each and everyone of us with pineapples while we watched the movie, but only the teenagers of course, the 2 oldest "teenagers" were also 25 only. Oops, shhh~ xD The movie ended by 5 in the evening and we went straight to the beach after changing! But the beach at Kuala Rompin wasn't that beautiful compared to some other beaches, even so, we still enjoyed ourselves to the fullest. >< But we didn't swim in the water though, just enjoyed the coastal breeze and the evening water.

My cousin brother( Hoe )'s idea. Really a fan of One Piece. @@

As we were going back to the house, raindrops started falling. ( We had a good timing! ) At the car porch, we cleaned our legs with the specially built shower. We went to shower one by one ( there were only 4 bathrooms ), and later that night, we went out to have our dinner. At first, they planned to go to a seafood restaurant but it was their rest day so we went around the town and searched for another restaurant. There were only a few, and each were fully packed. Cousin brother ( Hoe ) even met one of his friends at the restaurant. We're at Rompin lol. @@ While waiting, we, the teenagers, went on our own "adventure". Walking around and visiting the stores, there were a wide variety of snacks, which aroused our hunger more. T^T Right after the dishes were served, everyone gobbled up without much talking. I think we finished up everything in just half an hour. xD Having nothing to do after dinner, we went back to the house and had our own sweet time. The living room soon filled up by everyone and once again, movie time! As the movie ended, it was already midnight. We went back to our rooms upstairs and started preparing to visit our dreamland ( my sister still watching drama with her laptop -.- ). =)

Second Day ( 9/6 )
Woke up by the chit-chatting of the adults ( it's always like that during family trips ), the clock just struck 7 in the morning. Because I'm a light sleeper, I was the only children who was awake while the others were still sleeping soundly. Had a cup of morning coffee, a small conversation with dad and getting prepared for the day, the others were already awake. Soon, we went out to have our breakfast at 9 a.m. Early isn't it? Because we couldn't afford to be late for our ferry ride. Had a bowl of noodles each and I was damn bloated ( can't eat that much in the morning ). And then we went around the town for awhile and some went back to "bomb". Haha, our funny language which mean to poop. xD At the house, we watched some tv programmes while waiting for them, and made our final check. And there continues our trip to Pulau Tioman!

After about an hour of driving, we checked in at Tanjung Gemok Jetty. At the counter, there was this family, a parents with 2 guys around 20+ ( one of them wearing headband lol ). Cousin sister ( Xuan ) told me that it was her first time seeing a guy wearing headband. xD While waiting, an enormous group of students from international school came in with their teacher. @@

Some kind of parking fees at the jetty so that our cars wouldn't get clamped ( expensive -.- ).

Our luggage. There's a few more. xD

Cousin brother ( Hoe ) took it all in back and white (-.-) :
The guys were playing football in the waiting hall lol.

Bluewater Express, our transportation to Tioman Island.

The seats. =)

The ferry was quite shaky at first, luckily I didn't get seasick. ^_^ We slept, ate some snacks and chatted throughout the journey. About 2 hours later, we finally reached the jetty of Pulau Tioman. The alluring blue sea was so beautiful that all of us couldn't resist it's temptation. Paya Beach Resort was our accommodation for those 3 days and it was quite appealing. The place was really nice but unfortunately, we couldn't stay together at the Superior Beach Front as they have not enough rooms there. So, my family stayed at the Superior Chalet instead. T^T

Superior Chalet and our room ( downstairs ).

The interior ( there's one more bed on the right and there's where I slept ^_^ ).

Superior Beach Front ( Wished I could stay here too! There was even a hammock right in front T^T )

The indoor and outdoor restaurant.

There's a mini swimming pool and a souvenir store at the back entrance of the restaurant.

At the reception, we were in despair when we figured out that there was no Internet connection due to some interruption. T^T It's okay, just add one more aim to our family trip, which is to totally take a rest from our hectic city life. =D After checking in, everyone went to their own room and unpacked their belongings. I went to the rooms at Beach Front and together, we surveyed around the stores. Because of the hot weather, we wanted to buy some ais kacang but the seller wasn't prepared for business yet, so we went to the Chinese restaurant at the far end instead. We ordered a few plates of rice and noodles, and most importantly, cold drinks. After filling up our stomach, we went back to our rooms for an 1 hour short nap.

Later, we gathered again at one of the Beach Front rooms ( my cousins' room ) and had some snacks. Right after that, we changed into our swimsuits, went to the booth, rented our snorkeling equipment and "booshh", right into the water. =D Oh, did I tell you about this? My uncle ( 4th ) is one of the resort shareholders as he was a snorkeling teacher in the past and he always bring his students(?) there. So we had no worries at all, everything about this trip was settled by him. =P Okay, back to the beach, we had a great time learning the know-hows. After some lessons, we swam around and had some fun. But the water was damn salty. >< Couldn't open our eyes in the water, the pain couldn't be described by words when the salt water entered our eyes.So it was actually quite "painful" while fooling around and splashing water. xD

As the sun began to set, we went back to shower and met at the dining hall. We had two big tables, seperating the adults and teenagers. We ate a lot during our buffet dinner, not the main course but the desserts. =D There were a wide variety of desserts being replenished every few minutes as there were really a lot of customers. We were acting like some hungry ghosts, having fun grabbing desserts. Once a new dessert was brought out ( especially the custard pudding ), people will start swaming to the dessert corner including us, and it was not only one people from our table ( we always bring the food in large quantity and share among ourselves ), but everyone got up lolol! While our stomach juices were working hard, we walked on the beach for some fresh air, leaving the adults at the restaurant. We could barely see what's on the beach and handphones' torch were our only choice. We walked a long way from the restaurant to the jetty and relaxed there. A few people were fishing, although there's a notice saying "no fishing". Malaysian...

We joined up with the adults and went back to their rooms. Teenagers in one room, adults in another, we watched movie and played some games there. Then, we all walked all the way from the room to the stores ( from one end to the other end lol ), bought some snacks and soft drinks, and we went back again. We continued playing "turtle" ( card game ) and the loser was required to accomplish some mission. Funny thing is, our cousin sister ( Xuan ) lost from the start to the end, the same person without changing lol ( there's one round where me and she compete against each other, she lost again xD ). After that, we watched a movie and then brother accompanied me back to my room and we ended our second day.

Third Day ( 10/6 )
This was the most exciting day that we were looking forward to. It's time for snorkeling! In the middle of the ocean, with no lands that could be seen, there will be only us, snorkeling. Oh my gosh! =D

That morning, everyone woke up early as promised and went to have our breakfast at the restaurant. After that, we changed into our swimming attire and got ready to board the boat at around 11 a.m. There were a few groups of people snorkeling together, some small families had to share boats with the others, but that only boat just called out "Yeap's Family" and that's our boat! ( Advantage of having a big group xP ) Everyone were looking at us when the worker called us lol. The sea, here we come!

Leaving the jetty! Woohoo~

Arrived at the first snorkeling location, the malang rock. The blue ocean had me mesmerized that I almost forgot that we were still in Malaysia :
Cousin sister ( Xuan ) and I couldn't wait for the ladder ( only one for everyone! ),
so we just jumped down from the boat. xD
Got praised ( about our bravery) by our aunt because of this lol.

Boats are next to each other so that we won't get hit. ( Please ignore my butt. xD )
Our boat was the second one from the right.

Crystal clear water.

Yay! An underwater shot~ Feeling satisfied although my face looked so ugly. xD

My dad, my sis and me were trying to get my mum down from the boat, but she was so scared to let go of the ladder ( she can't swim ). We persuaded her and guaranteed her that she won't drown, telling her that I also don't know how to swim ( A little basic and that's all ) and we will always be there for her, but at last she went back up after a split second of letting go of the ladder. =(

Group photo ^^

Me and my childish face.  =P

After an hour or more ( not sure ), we had to move to another location. As mentioned above, there's only one ladder for so many people, so we cousins invaded the boat next to us ( the headband guy's ) and crossed to our boat. xD The dads told us to do so, they said their ladder is easier to use lol. Felt chilly when the boat started moving, but the sun was already hanging on the sky. Everyone reapplied their sunblock and few minutes later, we reached the next location. That place is like a huge swimming pool. It's very deep although it's located near the beach. I think this place is located next to the island we were staying at.

Used up all of our energy at the first location, we did not have much strength left to play. But there were not much fish here, only that the they were different from those that we saw at the first location. Anyway, we took our time relaxed here in the water and some of them took diving lessons from my uncle. They can dive there due to the deep water. I wanted to try but unfortunately cannot, it's dangerous since I don't know how to swim. We only stopped at this location for an hour, and we went back to the resort.

However, our fun did not stop there. We gathered at the same room again after getting showered. Fooled around for a bit and then our brother went out to buy a few bottles of alcoholic drink. Each of us had a taste of the different drinks, and I still couldn't understand why the adults like it so much. The taste is a bit bitter, there's only this apple flavour that tastes sweeter. Had a little chit-chat and we went back to our room for some rest.

When we returned back to their room, they already headed out to the beach without waiting for me. Bad cousins. T^T So I searched for them at the beach, luckily my sister came to fetch me, if not I really couldn't find them ( I'm very bad at searching ). They were in the water, quite far away from the beach near the restaurant, so dad and I also went into the water, but he didn't follow me when I swam towards them. I called for him but he refused to swim towards us. Sorry dad, for leaving you behind. =( We snorkeled to very far away from the beach, at the border they made to prevent us from swimming far away. But the two eldests swam over the border and we were scared to follow. Lots of big waves at that time, we had fun playing in the water, getting pushed around by the waves. Rain started dropping and we swam back to the Beach Front. We remained in the water and relaxed for awhile before going back to our room. My mum brought my slippers back from the beach to our room, and I had to walk back barefooted. Had to endure the pain since it's stone floor. T^T

Showered and dried my hair in a fast speed ( since I was always the last one to arrived at the restaurant xD ), I was the first one among the cousins to arrive. =P We had an appetizer and then our main meal. I don't have any appetite at that time, and there's a slight headache due to the alcohol, the so-called hangover. T^T Cousin brother ( Hoe ) and sisters ( Xuan, Jin ) were still having the floating feel due to a long period in the sea. After dinner, I went around the restaurant and the souvenir shop with cousin sister ( Yan ) while waiting for the others. Then, we headed to the usual room.

There, we lied on the bed and were chatting together. Cousin brother ( Hoe ) went to buy some snacks and alcoholic drinks, yeah again, then everyone brought the chairs to the beach. Sister and my cousin ( Xuan ) remained in the room to watch drama. While they were having conversation, cousin brothers ( Hoe, Ben ), me, my dad and cousin sisters ( Yan, June ) went to search for crabs! ^_^ Logically, it's high tide at night right? But at Tioman, it's low tide at night. So the water went to very far away, almost reaching the border we swam to in the evening. Bringing all sorts of torch light, we went on our adventures. There were a few tiny fishes ( swimming in the tiny bit of leftover water ), prawns and baby crabs. We went all the way to the water, imagine how far we walked. xD Cousin sister ( Yan ) and I sat on the swing in front of their room, then we went in to join my sister and we rested there. Everyone went back to their rooms and with that, we ended our third day. ( An after effect from the sea wave, I can see the toilet "floating" slightly when I am in my room lol. )

Fourth Day ( 11/6 )
We had a leisure morning, waking up naturally without any alarm, but still we woke up early. I went to their room and they were still sleeping, some just woke up. While waiting for them, I took a stroll on the beach. With the refreshing sea breeze blowing onto my face and my feet sinking into the smooth sand, it felt really nice. After everyone woke up, we went to the restaurant for some american breakfast ( some chose malaysian breakfast ). =D This time, we chose an outdoor seat instead and had our breakfast while enjoying the view.

That's indoor lol. xD

After breakfast, my cousin sister ( Yan ) and I walked around the restaurant, and the beach, of course. Then we went around visiting some other rooms in the resort. Remember about the headband guy? Not a stalker, we just coincidentally found out that their room was the Deluxe Suite, which is on the second floor, on top of Superior Beach Front where my cousins were staying. xD Awhile later, the adults called out for us and we joined them to visit another resort called Tioman Paya Resort. It's a budget hotel situated on the same island, behind our resort. We had to walk a long way and we went deep into the back until we reached their resort.

The wooden footpath was a little scary before reaching the cement footpath. T^T

We went in from the entrance near the jetty, but when we reached the end of the resort, we found the second entrance which is much more easier to walk through and it's also nearer to the Beach Front. -.- At the second entrance, there's a river underneath the bridge and even a crocodile in it! =O Leaving Tioman Paya Resort, we had a walk near the ending of the island. There were some kampung style houses surrounded with a few unique plants and a mini chicken coop with some hens and chicks. You know what? The chicks in yellowish-white were so cute when they were following the hen from behind! Busy running away with their tiny feet when we went near them. Aww, feel like bringing them home. <3 p="">

Tired from visiting around, we went to our cousin's room to rest. We almost fell asleep while lying on the soft bed, my dad totally slept. xD Half an hour later, we went back to our own room and started to pack our belongings. Normal check out time is at 12 noon, but the receptionist informed us to check out at 11 pm. What!? Nothing to do after checking out, we secured our luggage at an air-conditioned room and went to the Chinese restaurant and had our brunch. After that, my sister took out her laptop to watch her last episode of drama and we ( me, Xuan, Kei, Hoe ) joined her too. The drama ended, and we had nothing to do once again. So we just hanged out there, played some mobile games, and finally we went to the beach. But the weather was really hot. @@

Unknowingly, time passed by and it's time to bid farewell to the beautiful island and sea. Last shot of photos before leaving T.T :

We boarded the ferry around 2 in the afternoon, but we delayed for an hour before departing! Don't know what were they doing, we were slightly annoyed while sleeping. xD Finally, we started our journey and reached Tanjung Gemok Jetty and from there, we drove to the seafood restaurant at Kuala Rompin for dinner. This time, it's opened for business. ^_^ Had soft shell crabs and some other seafood as well. Yum Yum. Then, we reluctantly drove back home. ( I slept through the whole journey while dad and sister took turns driving. Hehe )

= End of Our Beach Trip =

We experienced life without social networks on the Internet at all and it wasn't that bad. It was because we had companion, we spent most of our time playing together, and we shared our precious moments together. Through this fun and exciting trip, we truly enjoyed ourselves and managed to create even more memories together. Our family bond is strengthen as well as the relationship between youngsters. Happy that I am part of this family, I really appreciate them. May our family relationship continue to grow in the future until next generation and so on. =)
