Healthy Lifestyle: Skipping For Health

Posted by Mae Yeap at Sunday, June 22, 2014
Another event that we'd participated in. But this time, it's out of our interest, no more for co-curricular marks. This event is considered as quite unique as we're required to skip instead of running like the past events that we'd joined.

According to some news pages on the Internet, Skipping For Health is actually organized by the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur. This event made its mark in the Malaysia Book of Records with the largest simultaneous participation, which was a total of 7,801 participants at nine different locations, namely Georgetown, Raub, Karak, Seremban, Kota Bharu, Kuching, Teluk Intan and Kuala Lumpur. There were around 1000 participants gathered at KL. So, here's a link of it :

In the morning around 7, we gathered at Dataran Merdeka where the event was held. After registration, we took our goodies bags and a tee shirt each for us to change into. There's a simple male's and female's changing room at the side, but it was not totally covered. >< Then, our routine came in, which is taking selfie! There were some booth with Milo drinks and Koko Crunch as well. So, after securing our belongings at the designated place, we went to have some morning snacks.

After the snacks, we lined up and sat in the middle of the road( no worries, the road was blocked ), waiting for the event to start. Sitting there, we realised that there were many cameras around, and even a helicam that we could only see in those variety shows! Childishly, we tried to get ourselves captured by the camera, thinking that we could be shown on the TV. ( And we did it you know! Only a few seconds though, while we were skipping, but that's better than nothing right? Luckily we sat in front, the third row I think. xD ) While waiting, the emcee asked everyone to make a wave to be recorded by the camera, and we even said hello to the helicam. After that, we walked around going to the washroom and playing around with our skipping ropes.

Us and the foreigners sitting in front of us. There's a cute lil girl with them. =D

Our colourful skipping ropes. Mine is orange in colour. =D

After a really long wait with speeches and a band performance, the event finally kicked off, simultaneously across the country. We skipped for five minutes non-stop, and if you think that it sounds short, then you're definitely wrong. It was really long and we're all exhausted. Seriously, stamina depleted.

The cute lil girl that I mentioned :

Watch the news and spot us if you can! :

Soon, the event ended with cheer performances by a cheerleading team, skipping performance then dancing performance by some students from SMK Aminuddin Baki, but we only watched the front part as we could hardly watch it behind the crowd, so we gave up and went to have some Milo.

A short part of the performances :

After that, we took some photos, went home by LRT and ended the meaningful morning.
